Mango Morning Glory Pool Coffee Table
One of my favorite things about working in furniture design is the collaboration with my clients. I love it.
This piece was inspired by a photo sent to me for a commissioned coffee table. At first, I was intimidated by the request. Then...I knew I had to accept it because it was beautiful and an opportunity for me to learn new techniques. This table was inspired by the MORNING GLORY POOL at YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. It was created with a mango cross-cut, resin, alcohol inks, and a teak base. And a lot of love. Dimensions are 4' x 3' x 17". I love it! |
"Oh my heavens!! I can’t believe how lucky we are to own it?! A friend said, “It’s calming to look at...like sitting next to nature.” I could not agree more."

Shamel Ash Whitewashed Waterfall Table
A wonderful part of having a life partner is when you can grow together and branch out into new endeavors. This project optimizes that.
Christina had just completed a beautiful commissioned artwork for a new client and when the conversation turned to furniture needs, my name came up. The request was made for a console table. I proposed a few approaches and we landed on a waterfall table. We began the search for the perfect wood slab and started off on our journey,. The only creative request was a whitewash finish which I was happy to oblige! I'm very proud of the results and when we hand-delivered the table, I was overwhelmed with how how awesome Julie and her husband Mike are. I love when something I created ends up in such a warm and inviting home! Looking forward to the next project and a long-standing relationship. |
While working with artist Christina Twomey, I saw several furniture pieces that caught my eye. I discovered the bespoke designs were crafted by her husband Bobby. I had been hunting for a singular console for our open foyer and his elegant and organic style was exactly what I wanted. I commissioned Bobby for the piece and his mind's eye imagined a beautiful waterfall table made from an exquisite piece of Shamel Ash. Bobby involved me every key step along the way and I'm excited to collaborate with him on more furniture!"

RIVER BENCH
I had some beautiful wood left over from a previous project and had no idea what to do with it. As the Universe often works, my long-time friend contacted me requesting a bench for their new home which sits lakeside along the majestic Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota.
She described a light colored wood that resembled a beach that would be fused with clear blue translucent resin that resembles the lake right outside their bay window.
I instantly knew I had a purpose for my "scrap" wood. There is ALWAYS a use for something...and patience paid off here.
The result is a 48" x 16" x 2.5" Resin Bench top resting on clear-coated cast iron hairpin legs.
I love it.

ACCENT RIVER TABLE
"I commissioned a piece for my wife of 14 years for our anniversary. What do you get the girl who has everything? Bobby made a beautiful piece for our kitchen and it's my wife's favorite thing. He used two separate pieces of wood, joined together with resins in her favorite colors, blended just like our relationship. He took such care in crafting an heirloom that will live as long as we do. It was something old, made into something new, from wood borrowed from an ancient tree, bound in something blue. What a beautiful way to commemorate our marriage. Thank you, Bobby, for the best anniversary gift yet."

This was a unique project in that it began with what I saw as a broken piece of wood. I had ordered a collection of teak cross-cuts for some personal projects and one arrived damaged. It was a beautiful cross-cut that had split in half during transit. At first, I was saddened by this but then I thought…maybe there is a way to connect the two pieces and create a larger table.
So naturally, I posted pictures of all the cross-cuts I had (damaged one included) and asked the internet which ones were their favorites. An adventurous friend of mine reached out, said he was a fan of my work, and wanted to commission a table to give to his wife for their 14-year wedding anniversary. I was honored by the request and showed him the available cross-cuts I had – including the damaged one - and he chose it! He said the joining of two pieces symbolized his marriage and so we decided to take the challenge on.
My friend, and now client, wanted an accent table to sit on his island counter-top in the kitchen. The styling in the room was bright and modern, and the countertop was marble with a white base and hints of silver. He also mentioned that his wife’s favorite color was teal.
I took this information and created a “marble” effect with resin, silver and teal alcohol inks, and some grey pigments to match the room décor and give a nod to his wife’s love of teal.
The result was a 30” (Length) x 20” (Width) x 5” accent table that fits perfectly on the kitchen countertop.
I called it a ‘RIVER TABLE’ because it looked like a white marble river flowing through the teak.

TEAK/RESIN BAR STOOLS
"We worked with Bobby to bring a custom stool design to life. The experience was really great, and the quality of the final product far exceeded our greatest expectations."

This was my first attempt at creating a piece of furniture using resin that someone would actually sit on. I usually make resin/wood tables BUT – I also love a challenge!
This job came to me through clients and repeat art collectors of my lovely wife’s resin art. She specializes in resin work and they asked her if she’d be interested in taking a run at creating some resin barstools. The concept our clients provided were to create 4 circular bar stool tops and affix them to some teak stool legs they had in their possession. Materials requested were Teak wood and resin. I loved the idea and although I knew it’d be tough to color match the teak stool legs AND build molds that would result in circles – I said “what the heck” and dove in.
I selected cross-cuts that were larger in diameter than the intended 16” as I knew I could trim portions of the teak to create the circle and meet the sizing request. I collaborated withe clients and together, we chose the perfect cross-cuts to use. From there, I sleec ted my cut pointz and trimmed the cross-cuts in a circular fashion to measure 16” in diameter. Then, I built 4 molds and placed the trimmed teak cross cuts inside. We used “Carbon Black” acrylic from GOLDEN and did a series of 3 layered pours to level the resin off at the 2.5” depth of the teak cross-cuts.
Then I sanded. A LOT!
Once the cross-cuts were planed, I did 2 flood pours of clear resin and affixed the legs.
The stools look beautiful in front of the marble island kitchen counter and were a terrific complement to the style of decor throughout the Balinese styled home.
This was a challenging project but the smiles on our clients faces was the best reward I could ask for.

DUAL ACCENT COCKTAIL TABLES
Art collectors Dave and Dagmar, who have become good friends were in the market for a couple accent tables that could be used when they hosted parties at their home.
They wanted something unique, versatile, movable, and luxurious. They asked if I could design tables that could function together, as well as operate independently when needed. An extra challenge was to create one table with a translucent resin finish so it could be lit from below. The tables needed to have synergy, while maintaining their own look and feel. I collaborated with our friends to produce the two lovely tables you see in the pictures. And - if you want to see the translucent table lit up - click here! |

LAGOON TABLE
"Bobby was so good about communicating the creative choices, budget, and delivery timeline. Whether we were selecting the teak cut, resin color, wood stain, or table legs, he made the whole process super collaborative. It’s the perfect fit for my living room and is always a conversation starter — I feel like I played a real part in making the table!"

I posted a pic of a collection of teak cross-cuts that I had available for commissioned work and I was contacted by the son of a good friend who had been following my work on social media. He had just moved into a new house and was ready to add an elegant side table to his newly purchased luxury leather chairs. He reached out and asked if I’d be interested in creating a table that could compliment these classic, gorgeous, blue leather chairs. I knew I needed to do something special so the table could stand up (pun intended) to these magnificent chairs.
We discussed a few approaches and landed on a pigment color called “Golden Indigo”. Our approach was to create a semi-translucent resin finish in the center cavity, and I’d also build a dam so the resin could flow to the edge of an outer cavity in the resin. This way it would look like the resin was flowing out of the center of the teak. I applied some trickery with the blow torch to “tease” the pigment as it cured to create a ripple effect in the resin.
The result was a 23” (Diameter) x 21” (Height) side table that compliments the chairs and living room perfectly.
I called it a ‘LAGOON TABLE’ because I imagined the resin flowing to the center from an unknown source outside the table.
